What is Scouting?
Scouting is for girls and boys!
The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as a member of their local, national and international communities. Research shows Scouting builds resilience in youth.
This is undertaken in small teams (“patrols”), under the watchful eye of trained volunteer leaders, with the youth gradually taking on more leadership as they learn the skill of leadership using the proven Scout method. And all done in the context of fun, often outdoor adventurous activities.
Wilston Scouts is a local group which is part of the world’s largest youth movement, with 50 million Scouts worldwide! Wilston Scouts provides Scout training, new friends and life building experiences to both girls and boys from age 7 to 25. Youth are welcome to join Wilston Scouts year round.
Wilston Scout Group Den is located at the western end of Sellheim Street, Grange.
(beside Grange Library)
We accept membership enquiries for leaders, and youth all year round! You can join at any time!
Age Groups
For our young people, the Scouting journey is from age 5 to 25 and is delivered as one complete program.
5 – 7 YEARS JOEY SCOUTS
Life as a Joey Scout is full of discovery and excitement! We participate in a variety of activities from cooking and craft, to paddling, climbing and day-hiking in the great outdoors.
8 – 10 YEARS CUB SCOUTS
We love exploring and participate in camping, canoeing, navigation and day-hiking. If you enjoy games and learning new skills then you’ll love being a Cub Scout!
11 – 14 YEARS SCOUTS
We take charge of expeditions, cook meals and learn to safely plan our own adventures. Scouts actively develop leadership and outdoor survival skills and learn how to teach these skills to others..
15 – 17 YEARS VENTURER SCOUTS
We never turn down a good challenge and love to push ourselves to go further in canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing, archery, hiking and personal development.
18 – 25 YEARS ROVER SCOUTS
We are independent and resourceful. Rovers love furthering their skills through Adventurous Activities, serving the community and seizing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities!
